A new update, O My!

Thought I might do a little update again for anyone interested. Haven't been very active here if you couldn't guess, most of my activity has been on tumblr lately. If you'd like to see some of my latest going ons, go here vara-art.tumblr.com/ I've been working sketching more right now but hopefully I'll get myself into doing more digital painting and such.
On life matters, since the last journal, I've graduated DAVE school, took one extra class afterwards and eventually got a job at a pretty good studio. I was at StereoD for about 5 months and worked on the 3D conversions of avengers 2, mad max, jurassic world and san andreas. Some pretty nice titles for my resume, eh? But due to some very personal matters, I had to leave and come back home. I've been spending the last few months recovering.
But now things are better, and with my student loans encroaching on my last paycheck, I'm starting to look for job openings again. I might also go back to DAVE school to brush up on my skills and be able to get interviews there too.
So currently not a whole happening with me, but hopefully by next year I'll have a new job ;D

Moar Life Update

I guess I should write a bit about what's been going on with me lately since my last journal. I'm still in DAVE school and I've managed to pass the first two blocks so far, next week is the last week of my third block and hopefully I'll be alright with my final project. This block was all about VFX and compositing and we get all next week to composite a shot with no help except for our notes :U But it shouldn't be too difficult hopefully. After that it's fourth block!(if I pass) Can't wait to start our project, it's pretty darn exciting, especially with our little group cus right now we're just a class of five people. Our class started with 20 people in block one and we're the five survivors xD But I heard there'll be a few re-takers from the current block four class (they're not doing too well with their project D
But so far I've had a blast here and next block's gonna go by fast with all the work we'll need to do. The teachers are all awesome, partly cus they're cool as hell, partly because they've worked in the field before and have worked on films, and with some pretty big people in the film industry.(Tho honestly, I think my fave is my current teacher, Dan Smith ) he's the scariest motherfucker ever and the nicest guy in the world; he's hilarious xD.
Bbbut yeah, it's just been goin to school everyday, trying not to get overloaded with information about all these various softwares or processes of compositing or different types of node flows etc., and trying not to fail at everything x) So far I feel like my best job possibilities would be organic modeling, animation (2D more than 3D), compositing, digital makeup or a creature design artist. I definitely would prefer 2D animation or creature design out of all of these, but I gotta go with what i get for the first few years of jobs ^^ Oh man I hope my lack of social skills doesn't effect my job interviews :E

Life Update

I guess I'll give a little update on what's been going on with me since I haven't been super active here lately.
Mainly, I have switched schools. KCAI is a great school and such, but the BFA liberal arts requirements proved too much for me (English and essays are my literal arch enemies), so I decided to leave after finishing what I could of last semester. It would have gotten a lot worse, not just for me, if I stayed xI. But, no worries, I've found another awesome school, one that worked for me much better. It's the DAVE school!

(Digital Animation and Visual Effects)It's a very awesome place with awesome people. The program is for only one year, so they lay down the lessons every week or two. They're one of the most top rated animation schools in the country; they have graduates who are working on amazing film/tv projects like Pacific Rim. I've already started my year here back on July 1st, and I've learned SO much about Maya in just 3 weeks than I ever would have somewhere else. Like our teacher actually wrote some of the books about maya, so he's constantly blowing our minds when he shows us how to do one task in 5 differents ways, 3 times faster than we could trying to figure out just one method 
Though, I've found that hard surface/object modeling isn't really my thing; this tank modeling project we're currently doing is killing me. Can't wait for the animal projects xD
But yeah, hopefully I'll pull through the program and graduate, and finally get a job where I've wanted to be all these years :'D
Oh and also, DAVE school's building is a soundstage in the backlot of Universal Studios Orlando ;D I can literally just walk into the park through a back entrance and go ride something during break.
